The 5 Best Cake Shops in Vietnam: Your 2025 Guide to the Sweetest Slices

Cake Quality: I spent several months visiting various regions to identify the best cake shops in Vietnam. This process prioritized observable quality over marketing claims or social media trends, ensuring the selections are based on actual merit and firsthand experience.

Tasting and Texture: I personally sampled signature offerings to assess texture, moisture, and flavor balance. This involved verifying the use of premium ingredients like fresh fruit, European flour, and specialized chocolate to ensure the bakes meet high technical standards.

Atmosphere and Service: Observing the customer service and shop environments firsthand allowed me to confirm that each spot offers a welcoming atmosphere. I looked for a consistent level of professionalism that complements the quality of the food and enhances the overall visitor experience.

Consistency and Reliability: I cross-referenced my findings with local feedback to ensure these bakeries deliver quality every day. These recommendations represent the most reliable and consistent sweet spots found throughout the country, verified through multiple visits and community consensus.

Exploring the vibrant streets of Saigon and the quiet corners of Hoi An has been a delicious journey for me. I’ve spent years tasting everything from street-side treats to high-end pastries to find the best cake shops in Vietnam.

On top of that, the quality of the bake really matters when you’re planning a birthday or just hunting for a dream wedding cake.

In this guide, I’m sharing my top picks that perfectly balance local flavors with world-class artistry.

First-timers discover new favorites here, where regulars come back for the freshness they can taste in every bite.

I’ve personally visited these spots to ensure they offer deep, complex flavors and artistic presentation rather than a simple sugar rush.

These bakeries have also proven their skill through consistent quality across various categories, making them standouts in a crowded market.

How much does a cake cost in Vietnam?

Budgeting for a celebration in Vietnam depends largely on the scale of your event and the level of customization required.

If you are picking up a high-quality artisanal birthday cake, you can expect to pay between 450,000 VND and 850,000 VND.

Meanwhile, those planning a grand wedding or a major corporate launch often see custom multi-tiered creations starting around 2,000,000 VND.

If you are just looking for a personal treat, individual premium slices typically range from 75,000 VND to 160,000 VND. This price range ensures that there is a sweet option available for every budget level without compromising on quality.

Furthermore, these prices reflect the use of premium ingredients like imported Belgian chocolate and fresh local fruits.

Consequently, understanding these costs helps you plan your next big celebration with confidence while supporting the local culinary scene.

Must-Try Dish: New York Cheesecake

Dulce De Saigon offers unbelievably moist American-style cakes that feel like a warm hug. They provide an authentic, “home-baked” Western quality that is rare to find in the heart of Saigon.

I remember walking into their cozy space and being immediately greeted by the scent of spiced cinnamon and sugar. During my visit, I tried their New York Cheesecake and was floored by the rich, creamy texture.

I can confirm that their chocolate cake remains a winner because it stays incredibly moist even after a day.

One thing to consider is that the shop is tucked deep inside an alleyway, which makes parking a bit of a puzzle.

Pros

  • Authentic American recipes
  • Exceptionally moist textures
  • Fast one-hour delivery
  • Friendly and warm service

Cons

  • Located in a narrow alley

Customer Reviews

I recommend it!

As a French pastry fan, I dare to give it 5 stars! Pleasantly surprised by the quality of the cakes. The place is very cute and the service was very pleasant. We tasted the New York Cheesecake and a Banana Foster Cream Puff! I recommend it!

Every treat we tried was a masterpiece

A Dessert Lover’s Dream!

Dulce de Saigon is an absolute gem! The moment we step inside, we were greeted by a warm and inviting atmosphere, perfect for a relaxed treat. We sampled a red velvet as a welcome offering which was a winner. From their unbelievably moist chocolate cake and the delightful, tangy lemon layered cake to the perfectly spiced cinnamon rolls, every treat we tried was a masterpiece. And don’t even get me started on the cookies – the classic chocolate chip was fantastic, and the vibrant purple cookie (perhaps ube?) was a fun and delicious surprise! The cozy ambiance and charming unique coffee cups just add to the overall wonderful experience. A must-visit for anyone with a sweet tooth in Ho Chi Minh City!

Must-Try Dish: Opera Cake

Em’s Bakery prepares European-style pastries using natural, high-quality ingredients like real French butter and European flour.

I stopped here during a trip to Hoi An and was struck by how stunning the cake layers looked through the glass. Their Opera Cake showcases a masterclass in balance because it is never overly sweet.

I noticed that they rely on the natural flavors of the ingredients rather than heaps of sugar.

It is a pity, though, that they do not have more seating since the atmosphere is so pleasant.

Being located just outside the old town makes it a convenient stop for a takeaway treat. I found their double cheesecake to be one of the most tender, melt-in-your-mouth versions in Central Vietnam.

Moreover, the dedication to traditional techniques is evident in every bite you take.

Pros

  • Authentic European techniques
  • Real French butter is used
  • Natural and fresh flavors
  • Great value for the quality

Cons

  • Very limited seating available

Customer Reviews

This is definitely the best bakery in Hoi An! Cakes are always stunning with a lot of layers that can be a nice surprise each time. I appreciate that cakes are never over sweet and are full of natural flavor of high quality ingredients. I highly recommend to all cake lovers 🙂

The cakes are also reasonably priced.

The cakes here are delicious! Our favourites are the double cheesecake and the chocolate cake. The cakes are also reasonably priced. It’s a pity that they don’t have more seating as it’s just outside the old town.

Must-Try Dish: Tiramisu Cake

Maison Marou uses premium bean-to-bar chocolate in every single dessert they create. They offer a sophisticated, world-class experience that is hard to match elsewhere in the city.

I visited their Da Nang flagship and was impressed by the sleek, modern design of the cafe. Their Tiramisu Cake is possibly the best I have ever had because of the rich chocolate filling.

I tried the cashew muffins during my last visit, and the moist cake base was perfectly balanced by the salty, crunchy top.

One thing to keep in mind is that the prices are quite high compared to local bakeries. It can also get very loud when the shop is full of tourists and families.

However, the gold standard for show-stopping wedding cakes is found here, making it a top choice for luxury events.

Pros

  • Elite bean-to-bar chocolate
  • Professional and bilingual staff
  • Stunning modern interior
  • Educational chocolate displays

Cons

  • Premium price point

Customer Reviews

The best tiramisu I’ve ever had.

When I saw the price, I thought it was a little pricey, but after tasting it, I was convinced. It’s a good size, so it might be good to share with someone else and order another one. It was the best tiramisu I’ve ever had.

Brodard is a heritage brand that has been a staple of Saigon since 1948, specializing in French-Vietnamese fusion baking. They maintain a long-standing reputation for elegance and classic flavors that families have trusted for generations.

I recently ordered a birthday cake from their District 1 location and was pleased with the classy presentation. Their Tiramisu Mousse Cake is a standout for being light and airy.

Plus, the staff at the Nguyễn Thiệp branch is incredibly enthusiastic and attentive to detail, which makes every visit there a pleasant experience, although the shop itself is quite small and mostly geared toward takeaway customers.

This bakery is a reliable choice for traditional cakes that please guests of all ages without being overly complicated or experimental.

Customer Reviews

Tiramisu birthday cake is the most delicious and beautiful in SG

Small but classy shop, the overall tiramisu birthday cake is the most delicious and beautiful in SG after several years of eating tiramisu birthday cakes, individual tiramisu cakes are normal and not as delicious, the staff is cheerful, enthusiastic and attentive

The real star of the show is the Opera cake

The cafe is right at the corner of the street. The bakery for take away just 2-3 houses away. Yes they are the same brand. If you’re looking for a cozy spot with a great view of the street, this cafe is perfect. The coffee is also worth trying, but the real star of the show is the Opera cake which is not easy to come by in Saigon. The service is good, too, which makes for a pleasant overall experience. Definitely recommend.

5. Artemis Pastry

Must-Try Dish: Pink Guava Cake

Artemis Pastry brings technical sophistication to the Hanoi dessert scene through a modern, artistic approach inspired by high tea culture.

I visited their Ngô Quyền location and was struck by how every cake looked like a piece of contemporary art.

The Pink Guava Cake is a must-try because it bursts with real fruit flavor. You can truly taste the rich, savory guava filling and crisp, fresh guava slices with a fragrant lychee mousse.

On the other hand, I also personally loved the delicate balance of their passion mango cheese cake during my afternoon tea.

One downside is that the shop attracts a lot of social media users, which can make it feel a bit crowded.

However, if you can ignore the cameras, the technical skill of the pastry chefs is undeniable. The bakery also serves as an excellent option for high-end corporate gifts or sophisticated celebrations that require a visual wow factor and unique tropical flavors.

Pros

  • High technical sophistication
  • Unique tropical fruit flavors
  • Artistic and modern designs
  • Long operating hours

Cons

  • Busy and “performative” vibe with social media crowds
  • The bakery can feel cramped at peak times

Customer Reviews

Highly reco everyone!

Visited Artemis when I was on holiday during end March. We ordered the guava cake which burst with strong guava flavour plus bites of guava fruit! The 2 drinks we ordered were refreshing! Highly reco everyone!

World class level pastisserie.

World class level pastisserie. The technical sophistication and techniques used here is top-tier which still a rarity in Vietnam. And the best thing about this place is that it inspires young chefs and pushes the field in Vietnam, as the owner have been inspired by the London high tea culture. Ignore the insta “influencers” and perfomative beta males forced to take pictures of their girfriends and just enjoy the offerings. We loved the delicate passion mango cheese and the refreshing tropical coconut. Will def come back to try the soursop cake, drinks and others. Congrats and good luck to the entreprenuer and pastry chefs of Artemis.
