Highlands Coffee is a well-known coffee chain throughout Vietnam, offering a range of coffee drinks and a popular spot for many. In fact, it’s more popular than some global chains that we know of. 

Their coffee offerings are affordable, and you can easily find them anywhere: in airports, shopping malls, and even in a hidden corner of some alleys. They have over 700 stores in Vietnam alone.

And despite being an international chain, they know how to fuse traditional Vietnamese practices and flavors into their menu, so you can get your daily dose of PhinDi Kem Sữa here.

If you’re looking for the birthplace of the famous egg coffee, Cafe Giảng is the place you’re looking for. They’ve mastered the art of making coffee, which is why they have a reputation for being one of the most authentic coffee spots in the country. 

For their specialty coffee, many would describe it as rich, creamy, and sweet. Some even say that it tastes like a liquefied tiramisu.

Over the years, Cafe Giảng has learned to adapt to the many coffee trends and gimmicks. They now offer a variety of egg beverages on their menu, such as egg matcha, egg cocoa, and even egg with rum. 

Despite the expansion, the café has maintained the original taste of its classic egg coffee and has kept its prices affordable, so many people can enjoy it.

Note that the place can be crowded with tourists and locals. If you’re not willing to deal with this, it’s better to visit early. The café is busiest around mid-morning and late afternoon.

Travelers, locals, and pretty much every visitor here have left a part of their stories. It’s really hard to miss because even their facade is full of it.

For their coffee, their coconut coffee and egg coffee are the most popular on the menu. There are also vegan coffee, velvet cakes, and smoothies that can easily win your heart. 

And aside from the unique decor and coffee, the café is thoughtfully placed in a location where you can have a stunning view of the Hoàn Kiếm Lake on one side and the busy streets of Hà Nội on the other. 

It’s a 6-story building, so you can definitely secure a spot inside!

The place isn’t air-conditioned, so it’s best to choose a seat near the window to get some breeze, or you can come late in the afternoon for a cooler atmosphere.

Their menu proudly lists origins and tasting notes for each bean, and boasts their source from local growers. The salted iced coffee, pour-overs, and cold brews are some of the best-selling items.

Cong Ca Phe is another famous coffee chain in Vietnam that has expanded to over 60 branches in the country, and even to some other countries like South Korea, Malaysia, and Canada. 

The café’s concept is heavily influenced by the country’s socialist past, which is why when you come here, you’ll see green army stools, old cameras, and propaganda art on the walls.

Even the staff wear guerrilla-style uniforms. 

Cong Ca Phe is famous for its traditional Vietnamese coffee, especially the coconut coffee. It’s a strong Robusta brew with whipped coconut cream on top.

The café can get crowded with visitors. If you want a calmer and quieter crowd during your visit, the best time to arrive is between 7–9 AM or after 4 PM.

You’ll see ten ancient houses with artifacts like agricultural tools used for coffee making by the Central Highlands ethnic groups. There are also ancient coffee trees that are over 30 years old.

At the enjoyment area – where you’ll find the Cherry, Arabica, and Robusta ancient houses – you can enjoy the Trung Nguyen Coffee specials, like the weasel coffee.
