Craving the adrenaline of rugged trails and technical hill climbs? Dirt Bike Academy’s unique program is heavily tailored toward off-road and enduro riding.
They utilize a professional closed motocross track just ten minutes from central Hanoi.
During a recent visit, I took their intermediate module. I was relieved that they provided full protective equipment, saving me the trouble of hauling my own bulky gear across the globe.
As for the training, their highly skilled coaches guide you through progressive skill tiering. With this, you’re mechanically ready before transitioning into their integrated multi-day off-road tours.
While the dirt-focused curriculum is phenomenal for trail enthusiasts, it entirely skips urban traffic training. This school isn’t for everyday city commuters dealing with chaotic streets.

Had a great lesson with Dirt Bike Academy Hanoi. Starting with zero off-road experience, Ben was a very patient teacher and ran me through some basics and then straight into a muddy but very enjoyable little off-road trail. Can’t wait to do it all again! Highly recommended if you’re at all interested in off-road biking in Vietnam.

I had a fantastic off-road lesson with Ben learning off-roading skills and manual clutch control. He was super knowledgeable, patient and thorough and took me from “stalling 75% of the time” to “drifting around the sand banks and smashing through the gears”. I’d HIGHLY recommend his services if you’re new to off-roading or manual bikes. 10/10 lesson and I’m very glad I did it before heading North for an adventure in the mountains.

Navigating the unpredictable flow of coastal city traffic requires a specialized approach to safety.
By emphasizing defensive riding strategies, RiseWise Academy perfectly prepares international students for local roads through its multilingual instruction program in both English and Russian.
I like how they strictly enforce a one-to-one instructor-to-student ratio, utilizing two-way Bluetooth helmet communicators to provide real-time turn-by-turn guidance without pulling over.
Beyond practical skills, the staff offers comprehensive administrative assistance for foreigners looking to obtain their legal A1 or A2 Vietnamese motorcycle licenses. They even handle all the confusing paperwork!
Keep in mind that booking weekend lessons incurs an additional operational premium. Also, their strict coaching policy often leads to long waitlists during the peak tourist season.

At SML GARA, the fully personalized training approach is personally led by Coach Petteri Koskinen, a former Vietnam Enduro Champion. He ensures that you receive top-tier guidance tailored to your specific technique flaws.
When I booked a private group expedition with him, the exclusive atmosphere and purpose-built hard enduro fleet gave me absolute confidence on the rocky Northwest trails.
I also like how they bundle logistics into all-inclusive packages, completely covering the bike rental fees and protective gear for standard group rides.
Just remember to arrange your own coverage before arriving, as none of their tour or lesson packages include personal medical or travel insurance.
Customer Reviews
SML Gara is a independent business who specialises in Durtbike mechanics and trips. The man himself. Pete has the patience of a saint and the wisdom of a Sage. I have been training with him for many years now and each on is always as fun as the last and very informative. I went from complete Noob to being able to handle my own all thanks to him. If you need lessons, speak to him. If you need repairs done to the highest standard. Speak to him. I would reccomend 100%

I recently did a Soc Son training day with Petteri and loved it. Pete has a ton of technical knowledge and starts with the basics, moving onto more difficult skills logically and progressively. His training doesn’t end with riding either, he gave mechanical tips for dirt bike maintenance and taught us how to tow a bike when mine broke down! I highly recommend a training session with Pete, regardless of your skill level. He has a world of knowledge and I ended the day with newfound confidence for the steep slopes.

For expats looking to legally hit the streets without the usual bureaucratic headaches, finding an all-in-one resource is a total game-saver.
While primarily a rental agency, DC Motorbikes also offers comprehensive licensing services. They handle everything from document translations to fast-track conversions that let foreign car license holders skip the theory exam.
Absolute beginners can jump right into the specialized introductory course, which builds confidence on smaller bikes before tackling public roads.
Once you pass your practical test, their seamless rental integration allows you to instantly pick a reliable vehicle from their massive fleet and drive off.
Unfortunately, short-term tourists are out of luck here, as their licensing services demand strict legal prerequisites like a Temporary Resident Card or a long-term visa.

Decided to learn how to ride a motorbike since I’ll be travelling around Vietnam. Saw many good reviews here and it definitely didn’t disappoint. I took a class with Duy, he’s very patient and teaches step by step, making sure you’re comfortable before moving on to more advanced skills. I only took one class but already felt confident enough to ride on the main road. Highly recommend for anyone who wants to learn or brush up their riding skills.

Customer Reviews
I’ve had two lessons so far and both with Thao. He’s kind, funny and patient. He encourages and talks me off the “ledge” when I just want to give up. Even the smallest step he counts as a win and I’m grateful. He makes sure I understand the mechanics of the bike and is empathetic to my needs and lack of experience. In (2)-2 hour lessons I’ve learned a lot (fell twice) and will continue to take lessons.
- Temisha Willis | Google Reviews
I did a few lessons with my teacher Thao and it was everything I was hoping for! I learned how to ride in semi-automatic, and after a few lessons, I could ride in Hanoï Old Quarter thanks to Thao who taught me everything I needed to overcome my fear of traffic!! Forever grateful for this 🫶🏻🫶🏻 also, amazing photographer hehe Thank you Thao 🤍
