1. Meow Pottery Workshop

Website: http://www.meowpottery.com/index.php/en/
Address: 100 Tran Quoc Toan Street, Ward 7, District 3, Ho Chi Minh City
Contact: +84 906975001 | [email protected]
Hours: Tuesday to Sunday 9:00AM-6:00PM
Nestled in District 3, Meow Pottery Workshop is an urban studio that embraces a relaxed, instinct-driven approach to creating ceramics rather than enforcing rigid rules.
Their comprehensive clay sessions are designed for all individuals, fostering an incredibly inclusive learning environment right in the heart of Saigon.
They excel at coordinating groups, allowing you to arrange a highly organized session. When I tried out their class to mold a simple planter, the instructor’s patient guidance made the whole process feel completely natural.
Spontaneous visits are rarely successful here, however. You’ll need to specify your preferred date and participant details well in advance, meaning walk-ins might be turned away.
I’m also disappointed at the hurdle I had to get through to get their fees before enrolling, as I had to click through several pages instead of finding them. Despite that, the supportive atmosphere makes it a lovely spot for beginners.

2. Authentic Bat Trang

Website: https://authenticbattrang.vn/
Address: 115 Hang Gai, Hoan Kiem, HaNoi
Contact: +84 964 800 919 | [email protected]
Hours: Daily 8:30AM-11:00PM
Travelers seeking traditional craftsmanship will appreciate this Authentic Bat Trang. This studio is right in the heart of Hanoi’s Old Quarter, saving visitors a lengthy commute to the historical village.
It’s notable that highly experienced artisans travel directly from the Bat Trang area to teach here, offering unlimited clay usage during the three-hour sessions.
What they do here is a bit different, though. They modernized the craft with fully electric wheels, ensuring a faster and less physically demanding learning curve.
Beyond the classroom, a massive 300-square-meter showroom allows students to admire thousands of traditionally crafted pieces. The setup is highly accommodating, but tourists on tight schedules face a distinct logistical hurdle.
Just note that retrieving your colored, glazed items requires waiting two to three days. Shipping could be arranged, thankfully.
It’s also worth mentioning that, while you can shape unlimited pieces here, the base operational price only covers the glazing and firing of a single item.

We have always wanted to try pottery class, but timing is always tricky with our travel plan. I guess fate has called. We chance upon this place 2 days before we are about to leave the country and decided to WhatsApp to book for a spot, luckily we got a 3 hour slot. Since we do not have sufficient time to wait for colourful glaze, we went with the basic glaze. Thanks to our pretty pottery Master, our babies turned out perfectly. We brought it home to unite with a filter we had for 8 years.

3. Pottery Hai Doan

Website: https://workshop.potteryhaidoan.vn/en/
Address: No. 1 Alley 115/2 Nui Truc Street, Ba Dinh District, Hanoi
Contact: (+84) 876 126 214 | [email protected]
Hours: Daily 9:00AM-7:00PM
Escaping the outdoor heat is effortless at Pottery Hai Doan’s fully air-conditioned studio. Plus, their Ba Dinh District workspace means there’s no need for long travel outside the city center.
I also like how they strictly cap class sizes at six people per session to guarantee personalized attention. Their proprietary custom-made glazes are also a highlight, ensuring truly unique pieces.
Another significant advantage is their in-house firing process, which severely reduces the risk of damaging fragile unbaked clay during transit.
A fellow traveler I met recently raved about their one-on-one intensive course, noting how the intimate setting accelerated their wheel-throwing skills.
If you’re a budget-conscious visitor, you must carefully note the hidden firing fees, as the upfront participation cost does not cover the mandatory charge to process and keep your work.
Additionally, I noticed that registering for classes after 6:00 PM incurs a noticeable evening surcharge.

Ceramic4You is a vibrant spot that merges ceramics and coffee. Before your session here, you simply must try their Italian espresso and homemade Belgian waffles.
The atmosphere is undeniably lively and geared towards social gatherings.
On the pottery side, it’s worth noting that this place is focused on painting pre-made pottery items.
Still, the experience is still tactile, and students have access to over 100 different pre-made unglazed bisque models. These are paired exclusively with imported American enamel colors to ensure a lasting finish.
Once fired, the resulting ceramics are incredibly durable and fully microwave-safe for daily home use.
Scheduling a visit also requires careful planning since they’re closed on Mondays and Thursday.

5. Cửa Hàng Gốm Sứ Bát Tràng Vietclay

Website: https://workshops.vietclay.com/en
Address: No. 10B, Alley 695 Bach Dang, Chuong Duong Ward, Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi

In their 500-square-meter outdoor garden directly beside the Red River, Vietclay provides an exceptional nature-integrated backdrop for artistic creation.
The facility uniquely divides its layout, featuring a dedicated hand-building zone kept entirely separate from the professional-grade glaze grinding machines and pottery wheels.
Their comprehensive curriculum dives deep into the craft, intentionally splitting the workshop into two distinct sessions for shaping and painting.
I like their retail shop, which allows students to witness the transformation of raw material into professional everyday items.
While the hourly studio rental is generous, they enforce a rigid zero-refund financial policy once a slot is booked.
Furthermore, customers face penalties for changing plans. Rescheduling requests need a minimum of two full days’ notice before the session.
