Capturing The Soul Of The City: The 5 Best Photographers In Hanoi

Technical Skill and Composition: We looked for photographers who demonstrate a deep understanding of lighting, framing, and visual storytelling. It was important to see a consistent portfolio that shows they can handle various environments and subjects.

Operational Reliability and Turnaround: A great photo is only half the battle, so we prioritized businesses with clear schedules and fast delivery times. We checked for studios that offer transparent timeframes for both unedited and finalized files.

Customer Experience and Logistics: We evaluated how easy it is to work with these professionals, including their physical location accessibility and on-site amenities. This includes looking at perks like free wardrobe access or bilingual communication for international clients.

Versatility and Niche Expertise: Our selection includes a mix of specialists to ensure there is an option for families, brands, and solo travelers alike. We weighed their ability to adapt to different styles, from raw documentary work to polished studio portraits.

Hanoi is a city that practically begs to be photographed, with its hazy morning light over Hoan Kiem Lake and the frantic energy of the Old Quarter. Finding the best photographer in Hanoi can feel a bit overwhelming because there are so many talented people behind the lens. You might be looking for a sharp professional headshot, a romantic wedding session, or just some high-quality vacation memories that don’t involve a shaky selfie stick. I’ve spent a lot of time exploring the local creative scene to find the pros who truly know how to frame the magic of this city.

How Much Do Photographers Charge in Hanoi?

Address: 2 Nguyen Khac Can Street – Hoan Kiem District – Hanoi

Contact: 097 684 6666 | [email protected]

Schedule: Monday to Sunday 9:00 AM – 7:00 PM

If you’ve ever felt the soul-crushing disappointment of a terrible passport photo, you will appreciate the “beautiful but natural” philosophy at Emotion Studio.

They focus on making you look like the best version of yourself without looking over-processed, which is a breath of fresh air.

One of their biggest draws is the interactive editing, where you sit right next to the editor to give your input before they hit print.

They even have a free wardrobe you can use if you show up in a t-shirt but suddenly realize you need a professional vest or white shirt. It’s a very central spot in Hoan Kiem, so it is convenient, but the schedule can get quite tight.

That said, you definitely want to book ahead to avoid a bottleneck at the door, as they often have a full house of influencers and business pros.

Also, while their ID photos are instant, some of the more complex profile packages can take a few days to finalize.

Pros

  • Instant turnaround for ID photos
  • Interactive live editing sessions
  • Free professional wardrobe access
  • Two central Hoan Kiem locations

Cons

  • Potential walk-in delays
  • Longer wait for VIP packages
  • Limited parking for cars

I love it, guys! The photographer put so much heart into it, and then edited it just as carefully. It looks so natural. After receiving the photos, I kept wondering if there was any reason I could show them off :)). I’m so happy with them 💕 …

The most dedicated and meticulous photographer I’ve ever had my picture taken at. For the first time in my life, I’ve held a passport photo I’m truly satisfied with 🤍 Thank you so much, Mr. Man! …

2. Binh Dang Photography

Website: https://binhdang.me/

Address: 59 Alley P. Hoang Cau Street, Dong Da District, Hanoi

Contact: +84 96 969 3950 | [email protected]

Schedule: Available 24/7

When you need a photographer in Hanoi who can bridge the gap between raw storytelling and high-end commercial polish, Binh Dang is the name that usually comes up.

He has a background in graphic design, which gives his work a very intentional, structured feel that creative directors love. His portfolio is incredibly diverse, covering projects from slick resort photography across Southeast Asia.

We actually reached out to a colleague who worked with him on a cultural documentary, and he mentioned how his local roots give him an edge in finding the perfect lighting in hidden spots.

He’s available 24/7, which is great for those weirdly timed industrial or sunrise shoots.

He might be overqualified if you just want a quick tourist snap, though. Also, because he’s a world-class talent published in major magazines, his style is much more editorial than your standard family portrait.

Pros

  • Expert documentary storytelling
  • Formal graphic design background
  • Available for 24/7 assignments
  • Global recognition and awards

Cons

  • Limited parking for clients
  • Overqualified for basic shoots
  • Primarily high-end focus

We contacted Binh Dang to photograph two of our projects based in Vietnam, and throughout the whole process the communication was excellent. The images he created for us were perfect for our needs, very good composition, variety of angles and supplied with extensive metadata embedded. He listened too and fulfilled our brief exactly and the resulting images have been used many times on our most high-end publications and marketing material. Would highly recommend Binh Dang to anyone wanting an efficient service of the highest quality.

I admire Binh Dang’s photographic style. Even during his time as a student at the Industrial Fine Arts University from 2004-2009, Binh Dang was known for his masterful pencil drawings, mastering lighting, texture, and the expressiveness of his portraits. Furthermore, he’s a graphic designer with excellent compositional skills and harmonious, emotionally resonant color palettes. Perhaps this understanding helps Binh create something unique in his photographic works. Wishing him success.

Address: 28 Dinh Liet Street, Hanoi Old Quarter, Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi

Contact: +84363602350

Schedule: Monday to Sunday, 9 AM – 9 PM

For anyone who hates the “1-2-3 cheese” style of photography, I.am.Long is a total dream because they focus on authentic, unposed moments.

Founded by native Hanoian Long Nguyen, the team here acts more like local guides who happen to have professional cameras. They specialize in capturing your journey through the Old Quarter in a way that feels like a candid documentary of your day.

We’ve tagged along on one of their film photography workshops, and the way they navigate the hidden alleys of Dinh Liet is impressive. They’re efficient, often delivering unedited files in just a few hours and final edits within two or three days.

Just keep in mind that you’re responsible for your own Grab or taxi fares between locations, which can add up if you want to hit multiple spots.

Still, it’s a fantastic choice if you want to see the city through a local lens while getting some beautiful, grainy analog film shots.

Pros

  • Natural and candid style
  • Very fast photo delivery
  • Deep local cultural knowledge
  • Digital and analog film options

Cons

  • Transportation costs not included
  • Caps on the number of edits
  • Focuses mainly on travel/lifestyle

Great experiences working with Long and his team. My family and I love the photos and experiences! I am very glad that we found Long to capture our trip. My mom and my aunts are originally from Haiphong and this trip is my mom’s first time back to Hanoi after 40+ years of migration. Thank you Long and your team.

Long is very responsive and professional. Photos are great and the whole experience is awesome and enjoyable. Highly recommended!

I had a wonderful experience with I.am.Long Photography in Hanoi! The photographer was kind, professional, and made me feel very comfortable during the shoot. The locations were beautiful, and the photos turned out amazing.

I highly recommend them if you want to capture special memories in Hanoi. Thank you for such a lovely experience! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Address: 37 Tran Quang Dieu Street, Dong Da District, Hanoi

Contact: 0916186626 | 0982291934 | [email protected]

Schedule: Monday to Sunday, 8 AM – 7 PM

Getting a toddler to sit still for a photo is usually a nightmare, but the team at Angel Studio has a specific knack for coaxing smiles out of little ones. They’ve been around for over a decade and have handled shoots for thousands of families, making them a very trusted name for milestones.

The lead photographer, Nham Lan Huong, was trained abroad, and you can see that expertise in their maternity and newborn setups.

Their physical studio in Dong Da is a controlled environment, so you don’t have to worry about the Hanoi humidity ruining your hair or makeup. If you don’t have a hair makeup set, they also provide them on-site.

However, the studio is set up across several floors in a traditional townhouse style. Also, while the location is central, the traffic near Hoang Cau Lake can be a mess during peak hours.

But for a polished family portrait or a professional business headshot, their high operational capacity ensures a smooth, well-oiled experience.

Pros

  • Specialist in newborn photography
  • On-site hair and makeup
  • Over 10 years of experience
  • Climate-controlled indoor studio

Cons

  • Multi-story layout with stairs
  • Busy local traffic area
  • Parking can be challenging

Angel Studio is a spacious studio with a wide variety of outfits and accessories for the whole family, resulting in very natural and beautiful photos. The owners are very friendly and dedicated, and the staff is professional. Aside from the lack of a studio sign, Angel Studio is a reliable place to help people capture and preserve beautiful photos.

The studio is professional, the makeup is meticulous and attentive to clients’ wishes, the photographers are enthusiastic and helpful with posing. The owners are very friendly. Everyone should come to Angel; you’re guaranteed to be extremely satisfied with the quality.

5. Very Dep Photography Studio

Website: https://www.verydep.com/

Address: Packexim 2 Building, Alley 6 Lane 15 An Duong Vuong, Phu Thuong Ward, Tay Ho District, Hanoi, Vietnam

Contact: +84 (0) 24 3212 1967 | [email protected]

Schedule: Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm

The name “Very Dep” is a playful mix of English and Vietnamese, and that “East meets West” vibe perfectly describes their aesthetic. Very Dep Photography Studio focuses on timeless, elegant portraits.

One thing we love is their transparency. They list their exact package rates on their site, which saves you from the “DM for price” dance that is so common with other photographers.

They’re fully bilingual, which makes them a go-to for the expat community in Tay Ho, and most packages include professional styling so you can just show up and look great.

The only real downside is their strict Monday through Friday office hours for consultations. If you’re a busy professional, you will definitely need to book your weekend shoot well in advance because they don’t do walk-ins.

Also, their base rates cover only digital files, so expect to pay extra if you want physical albums or those fancy wooden prints.

Pros

  • Transparent upfront pricing
  • Fully bilingual staff
  • Professional styling included
  • Consistent, high-quality training

Cons

  • No weekend office hours
  • Physical prints cost extra
  • Advanced booking required
  • Located further from Old Quarter

I scheduled a photoshoot with them and it was fantastic! Great people to work with who made me feel comfortable with my first professional shoot since I was a child. The team pulled something together within a week (I was traveling and didnt have that much flexibility with my dates) and it turned out great. They are professional, responsive, and very good at their jobs. I can’t recommend them enough!

If you’re in Hanoi, give them a call.

Our family including 2 “bosses” have had really great time at Very Dep Studio. The studio is nice and cozy. We are in love with the final result which is so captivated and delivered exactly the same ideal image I have in mind. Many thanks to production team. See you soon in the next set 😀
