5 Best Indian Restaurants in Vietnam for When You Miss Real Masala

Dietary Options: I checked whether each place made room for vegan, gluten-free, Jain, Halal, or vegetarian diners. Restaurants with clear choices for strict diets felt more useful for travelers and mixed groups.

Flavor and Technique: I looked at how closely the food followed Indian cooking styles instead of just offering mild curry plates. I gave more weight to places that used real spices, tandoor cooking, or home-style methods.

Menu Range: I checked whether the menu covered more than one type of Indian food. A wider range helped because some diners want dosa or chaat, while others want biryani or a richer curry.

Access and Convenience: I looked at location, hours, and delivery options. A good restaurant still needs to be easy to reach when you’re tired from sightseeing or staying outside the main tourist streets.

When pho and banh mi are everywhere, a warm curry can feel like the reset you need.

I looked for the best Indian restaurant in Vietnam by checking places that serve real spice and clear dietary choices, with meals that work for travelers as well as expats. Some are casual spots for quick dosas, while others feel better for a slower dinner.

I also considered how easy each place is to reach because a craving for biryani shouldn’t turn into a long search.

How much does an Indian restaurant cost in Vietnam?

An Indian restaurant meal in Vietnam usually costs 100,000 to 300,000 VND per person for a standard meal, while upscale spots can reach about 600,000 VND.

Dining TypeEstimated Price Range (VND)
Budget or casual meal100,000-200,000
Mid-range meal200,000-300,000
Upscale diningUp to 600,000

1. Baba’s Kitchen Indian Restaurant – Bui Vien

Website: babas.kitchen

Address: Bùi Viện, Phạm Ngũ Lão, Hồ Chí Minh

Contact: +84 28 3838 6661

Hours: Daily 11:00 AM-10:30 PM

After weaving through Bui Vien’s noise, Baba’s Kitchen Indian Restaurant feels easier to settle into than the street outside.

That calmer feel matches the menu well. The restaurant has a wide Indian menu, but the extra South Indian and Sri Lankan dishes make it more useful for diners who want something beyond butter chicken.

I also love that the kitchen keeps a no-MSG policy and prepares Halal dishes. That makes it easier for mixed groups to order with more confidence.

Plus, the flexible spice levels help because you can go bold or keep things milder without feeling awkward.

If you’re planning meals around other lunch spots in Vietnam, it’s a practical stop to keep on your list.

The trade-off is that direct service and delivery stay tied to select areas in Saigon and Hoi An, so access can be harder outside those zones.

Pros

  • South Indian and Sri Lankan options
  • No-MSG cooking policy
  • Halal dishes available
  • Flexible spice levels

Cons

  • Delivery limited to select areas

The food here is really good!

The food here is really good! We were concerned at first since it was in a tourist area, but the food turned out great. The sauces here are really good also. We got the butter chicken and shrimp mushroom curry, the sweet naan and chicken 65. All the dishes were good. They gave us an appetizer to try for free: Stir fried broccoli. You get a mango yogurt dessert after ward. Highly recommend this place!

It is the best food that we have had in vietnam. I would highly recommend this restaurant. We stayed in Ho chi minh for 3 days, out of which 2 days we ordered from here and 3rd day we visited the restaurant. Dish recommendations- Sunday’s special mutton biryani with salan and raita. Dal tadka, jeera rice. chicken 65 is authentic. Paneer chilly is tasty as well. Don’t forget to try their pickle! They give it with all their dishes. They also gave us free payasam and vanilla ice cream for the baby.

2. Tanishq Indian Vegetarian Restaurant

Website: tanishqindianrestaurant.com

Address: 258 Lý Tự Trọng, Bến Thành, Hồ Chí Minh

Contact: +84 775 019 036

Hours: Daily 8:00 AM-12:00 AM

Anyone avoiding onion, garlic, or root vegetables will appreciate how clearly Tanishq Indian Vegetarian Restaurant handles Jain-style dining.

That dietary focus carries through the whole menu. The restaurant is built around pure vegetarian food, but it still feels varied because the dishes cover several Indian regions, from Rajasthani plates to South Indian favorites.

I appreciate that many items can work for vegan and gluten-free diners. That takes pressure off travelers who need a meal that feels safe without making the group overthink every order.

Moreover, the chaats and tandoor items give the menu a more casual, snackable side. Plus, the dining room still feels warm enough for a relaxed sit-down meal.

It’s also a nice change of pace if your group has been trying different Italian restaurants in Vietnam.

The downside is that there are no meat or poultry dishes, so mixed groups craving chicken tikka may struggle.

Pros

  • Jain-friendly vegetarian menu
  • Vegan and gluten-free options
  • Central District 1 location
  • Many chaats and tandoor items

Cons

  • No meat or poultry dishes

A wonderful experience here

It was my first time trying Indian food, and I had a wonderful experience here. The owner was very friendly and gave a great recommendation — a flatbread stuffed with potatoes and onions. It was mildly spicy, full of flavor, and very satisfying. Paired with the basil sauce and a warm milk drink, the whole meal felt comforting and perfectly balanced. I truly enjoyed it and would definitely come back. Highly recommend!❤️

Address: 46 Đường Cao Hồng Lãnh, Minh An, Hội An

Contact: +84 941 049 899

Hours: Daily 8:00 AM-11:00 PM

Rasoi Indian Pure Vegetarian Restaurant makes strict dining feel much easier, especially for travelers who usually need to read every menu carefully.

That clear focus starts with their pure vegetarian setup, Jain-friendly meals, and cooking that avoids artificial coloring. Even with those rules, the menu doesn’t feel too narrow because it covers North Indian, South Indian, and Indo-Chinese plates.

I’m happy that the team uses fresh local produce, which helps lighter dishes feel brighter and thalis (set meals) feel more satisfying. Plus, the range moves from crisp dosas and quick snacks to full meals, so it works for different appetites.

Delivery through Grab and ShopeeFood adds extra convenience if you’re staying nearby and want a quiet night in.

Their limitation is that they don’t serve meat or poultry, which makes the place less flexible for groups that want heavier curry dishes.

Pros

  • Jain-friendly pure vegetarian meals
  • No artificial coloring
  • Fresh local produce
  • Delivery through Grab and ShopeeFood

Cons

  • No meat or poultry dishes

4. Tadka Indian Restaurant Hanoi

Address: 26 P. Phùng Hưng, Hoàn Kiếm, Hà Nội

Contact: +84 379 585 656

Hours: Daily 10:30 AM-10:45 PM

When you’re near Hoan Kiem and want a reliable Indian dinner, Tadka Indian Restaurant Hanoi is easy to fit into the day.

That convenience starts with the menu. It covers the familiar comfort dishes many travelers look for, including creamy curries, tandoori plates, and biryanis with a strong spice profile.

I also love that the seating works for different moods. You can stay inside for a calmer meal or take an outdoor terrace table when the weather feels kind.

On top of that, the long daily hours help if sightseeing pushes dinner later than planned.

Delivery through local apps makes it useful even when you’d rather stay at the hotel.

One limitation, though, is that the menu feels more general than diet-specific, so strict Jain diners or people with allergy concerns may need to call ahead.

Pros

  • Central Hoan Kiem location
  • Indoor and terrace seating
  • Long daily hours
  • Delivery through local apps

Cons

  • May not be Jain and allergy-friendly

5. Kadhai Indian Restaurant Hanoi

Website: kadhairestaurants.com

Address: 28 P. Đào Duy Từ, Hoàn Kiếm, Hà Nội

Contact: +84 904 883 733

Hours: Daily 10:00 AM-12:00 AM

For a slower dinner in Hanoi, Kadhai Indian Restaurant Hanoi feels more polished than a quick curry stop.

That more refined feel starts with the setting, and it also shows up in the menu. The restaurant offers certified Halal meat and vegan choices, so it can work for groups with different dining needs.

I also like how the traditional kadhai cooking style gives the sauces a deeper, cooked-down flavor.

That careful approach also shows in the team’s focus on fresh ingredients and hand-picked spices without making the menu feel hard to understand.

The location near the Old Quarter is another plus if you want a sit-down meal after walking around the area. And if a restaurant night doesn’t work, the delivery network still makes the menu easy to reach.

The trade-off is the more formal pace, which can feel slow if you only want a fast bite before a tour.

Pros

  • Certified Halal meat
  • Vegan options
  • Traditional kadhai cooking
  • Delivery network available

Cons

  • Slower formal service pace

The food was delicious!

The food was delicious! And it was just walking distance from the place where I was staying. The owner couldn’t really speak English but he was very patient with us and tried to explain things as best as he could. It was precious. May the place be filled with happy customers all the time
