Finding the 5 Best Muay Thai Gyms in Hanoi for Your Training Goals

  • Coaching Expertise: We evaluated the training staff's professional background and active combat experience. Instructors with proven track records ensure students learn proper technique and safe striking mechanics.

  • Facility Equipment: A great training environment requires durable heavy bags and well-maintained protective gear. We checked if the gyms update their equipment regularly to handle high-impact sessions.

  • Class Structure: We looked for gyms that offer clear progression paths for students of varying skill levels. Structured classes prevent plateaus and keep participants motivated during challenging conditioning routines.
  • Value for Money: Comparing membership fees against the quality of instruction helped us determine overall value. We prioritized centers that offer transparent pricing models and flexible drop-in rates.
  • Atmosphere and Community: A supportive environment is crucial for pushing through intense physical training. We favored places where members actively encourage each other during grueling rounds.

1. AKC Fitness Quận Ba Đình

Address: 5th Floor – No. 6 Nguyen Truong To Street, Ba Dinh Ward

Contact: 039 748 1112 | [email protected]

Hours: Sunday: 7:00 AM – 10:00 PM; Monday: 7:00 AM – 9:00 PM; Tuesday – Saturday: 7:00 AM – 9:30 PM

Stepping onto the mats at AKC Fitness feels incredibly welcoming for total novices, which is why many consider it the best Muay Thai gym in Hanoi for beginners.

This place specializes in blending traditional striking techniques with modern fitness regimens to create high-energy workouts for busy professionals.

They also offer dedicated Personal Training (PT) for members wanting customized nutritional guidance. Instead of focusing just on physical weight loss, their trainers actively build mental endurance to help desk-bound workers handle stress.

I chatted with a fellow member last week who mentioned that the heavy bag routines serve as an effective outlet for releasing daily tension.

Another plus is that you can access their multiple convenient locations across the city, allowing you to train close to home without battling heavy traffic.

However, because their core focus remains heavily on recreational fitness, serious amateur fighters won’t find the high-level sparring necessary for actual fight-camp preparation.

Pros

  • Multiple convenient city locations
  • Excellent for rapid caloric burn
  • Great stress relief routines
  • Dedicated personal training options

Cons

  • Lacks high-level competitive sparring
  • Not ideal for fight camp preparation

Customer Reviews:

The private sessions here truly took my skills to the next level.

I trained at AKC multiple times during my stay in Hanoi and enjoyed every class. I’ve been doing Muay Thai for some years, but the private sessions here truly took my skills to the next level. The coaches focus on details, technique, and corrections that make a real difference. Highly recommend 🙂 Cam on!!! 🫰

I had an unbelievable experience.

While visiting Hanoi I visited AKC Fitness for a couple Muay Thai sessions. Had an unbelievable experience. Hung was a great trainer. He helped to improve my technique and cardio. Whether you are new to Muay Thai or have been training for a while, I would highly recommend visiting!

Address: 9 Thanh Cong Street, Ba Dinh District

Hours: Monday – Saturday: 9:00 AM – 9:00 PM

Finding top-tier coaching is easy at AGOGE because the staff includes former national champions who run an elite Strength and Conditioning (S&C) program.

They offer a fully integrated Muay Thai and combat system that seamlessly blends traditional striking with elite Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) and wrestling. This makes it an ideal spot for those wanting to explore diverse martial arts under one roof.

Plus, the head coaches speak excellent English, removing the communication barrier for expats and visiting tourists.

I like their approach here. Rather than just running cardio drills, the instructors actively break down advanced Muay Thai striking mechanics and precise clinching techniques.

The strong team culture fosters a deeply committed environment where members push each other hard.

Just be aware that the mats here are frequently shared with professional fighters preparing for actual bouts. If you’re a casual fitness enthusiast looking for a light sweat, you might find the atmosphere intimidating.

Pros

  • Excellent English-speaking coaches
  • Deep roster for high-level sparring
  • Advanced technical striking breakdowns
  • Strong and committed team culture

Cons

  • Intimidating atmosphere for casuals
  • Shared mats with active fighters

Customer Reviews:

Great place to train and meet martial artists.

Great place to train and meet martial artists. Primarily focused on brazilian jiujitsu and muay thai, they also have filipino martial arts/ arnis in the week and often have visiting instructors who cross train with them. Open most weeknights from around 530 pm.

Flexible schedule, and training fee is also cheap.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!! They have a variety of martial arts (Boxing, Kickboxing-Muay, MMA, BJJ) with a gym corner. Flexible schedule, and training fee is also cheap. Coaches are national champions and they’re very friendly; plus, they can speak and teach in English.

Hours: Monday – Friday: 8:00 AM – 9:00 PM; Saturday – Sunday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Located in the popular Tay Ho area, STAR Kickboxing and Fitness boasts a supportive community that blends local Vietnamese residents with the international expat crowd.

Managing a busy Muay Thai training schedule is effortless here. Their efficiency is due to a massive timetable with over 30 coached group classes per week, all systematically structured to support measurable technical progression.

Members can also easily book sessions for Muay Thai, kickboxing, and boxing through a dedicated mobile app.

I also like that they provide incredibly clear pricing models ranging from flexible punch passes to discounted unlimited memberships. Local residents can even apply for a waived-fee trial class to test the coaching style first.

One downside is their strict policy prohibiting free trials for short-term visitors to Hanoi who stay fewer than 30 days. If you’re a backpacking tourist interested in Muay Thai, you’ll have to pay the standard drop-in rate right away.

Pros

  • Great integration of locals and expats
  • Dedicated kids programs available
  • Transparent tiered pricing models
  • Convenient free trial system for locals

Cons

  • No free trials for short-term visitors
  • Tourists must pay standard drop-in rates

Customer Reviews:

The gym was always clean.

I would strongly recommend Star Kick boxing, which caters to all abilities.

I trained at Star Kick boxing for a couple of weeks in January 2025. The gym had a very welcoming and friendly atmosphere thanks to the great staff. I mostly did Muay Thai sessions, but I also used the wide range of classes as an opportunity to do some yoga as well as my first boxing lessons. All classes were well structured and taught useful techniques, accommodating people of all abilities. Sessions could conveniently be booked via a user friendly app, and the gym was always clean.

100% recommend this gym and hope to return someday! 🙂

I attended STAR for 1 week package and it went beyond my expectations! The staff and coaches were super friendly and welcoming. I had never done Muay Thai/Kickboxing or Boxing before but Coach Dom, Quan and Nǎng were fantastic teachers, you were supported and made to feel  included. The gym offers other classes including strength and conditioning, boxing and yoga. I would 100% recommend this gym and hope to return someday! 🙂 .

4. PTS Kick-Fitness Tây Hồ

Address: 3rd Floor, 298 Vo Chi Cong Street, Xuan La Ward, Tay Ho District

Contact: 091.747.8868 / 0812 298 298 | [email protected]

Hours: Monday – Sunday: 5:30 AM – 10:00 PM

PTS Kick-Fitness heavily emphasizes personalized one-on-one coaching packages designed to rapidly transform a client’s physique.

I recently tried their Muay Thai-focused striking methodology during a morning session and was thoroughly impressed by how quickly the high-intensity rounds pushed my cardiovascular limits.

Beyond striking, members can cross-train in functional fitness to prevent workout monotony.

But what truly sets them apart in my book is how they combine intense combat sports training with luxury amenities such as salt-electrolysis swimming pools and herbal saunas.

On the downside, the heavy bag area frequently becomes congested during the post-work evening rush because of the center’s multi-disciplinary nature.

Also, getting across town during rush hour can feel like you need lessons from one of the local motorcycle driving schools. Nonetheless, extended operational hours make it easy to schedule your Muay Thai sessions outside peak traffic times.

Pros

  • Access to state-of-the-art equipment
  • Excellent post-workout recovery options
  • Massive daily operational hours
  • Diverse class offerings available

Cons

  • Heavy bag area gets congested
  • Evening rush hours feel chaotic

Customer Reviews: (General review, no other rev mentions kw)

I will definitely be a long-term member.

The club is beautiful, and they frequently upgrade their equipment, adding new things to train with, which I really like. The staff are enthusiastic and supportive during my workouts here. I will definitely be a long-term member.

5. Cobra Muay Thai Gym

Website: https://muaythaihanoi.com/

Address: Floor 1, Stand B, My Dinh National Stadium

Contact: +84 963 439 696

Hours: Tuesday – Saturday: 8:00 AM – 9:00 PM; Sunday: 8:00 AM – 7:00 PM

Stripping away trendy fitness fads, Cobra Muay Thai Gym focuses strictly on teaching devastating traditional strikes using fists, elbows, knees, and shins.

Here, they intentionally maintain a raw training environment that prioritizes heavy bag work and hard sparring over luxury aesthetics.

The trainers specialize in meticulously correcting micro-adjustments in your stance to generate maximum traditional Muay Thai power.

Unlike basic cardio classes, they dedicate significant time to the highly technical art of the clinch. The grueling nature of their traditional conditioning rounds builds immense cardiovascular gas tanks and mental toughness.

Because it functions as a raw fighter’s camp, clients seeking high-end luxury perks will find the bare-bones environment highly uncomfortable.

The lack of air-conditioned locker rooms or chilled towels means you must be prepared for a very sweat-heavy session.

Pros

  • Highly authentic clinch work
  • Professional-grade heavy duty equipment
  • Focused class sizes for attention
  • Builds excellent mental fortitude

Cons

  • Lacks premium comforts and amenities
  • Bare-bones environment may be uncomfortable
