Top 12 Ideas for the Ultimate Girls’ Weekend Getaway in Vietnam!

Listening to Cyndi Lauper’s song “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun,” brings me back to the days when planning a girls’ trip was nothing but a lift of a finger. Lately, things are just about life, work, and everything in between.

I can’t remember the last time my girls and I hung out. Hell, we can’t even hold a decent conversation in the group chat! I, myself, was getting sick of just working, and I just wanted a break — but not alone, though.

So, I told the girls that we needed to go on a weekend trip. They didn’t have to worry about the itinerary because I planned everything, and all they had to do was come along.

I mapped out these possible places we could visit for our girls’ weekend getaway in Vietnam.

1. VinWonders – Phu Quoc

Address: Khu Bãi Dài, Phu Quoc, Kien Giang

Phone: +8419006677

Operating hours:

  • Monday to Saturday 9:00 am – 7:30 pm
  • Sunday 9:00 am – 7:00 pm

A wonderland-like theme park should always be part of the list. It’s one of the safest choices, but you can never go wrong with the adventure it brings.

VinWonders is often called the Disneyland of Vietnam, but with more nature and gardens surrounding the attractions, not to mention it’s on an island.

Here, you have multiple attractions to choose from, including thrilling rides, a water park, themed zones, and an aquarium — all accessible with one ticket.

With a rough estimate, there are about 100 rides and attractions waiting for you when you arrive.

Pro tip:
The park is open until 7 pm, but many rides/zones stop operating around 6 pm. And don’t forget to catch the musical fountain show before leaving, which usually starts at 6:45 pm.

2. Sunset Town – Phú Quốc

Operating hours: 24 hours

We all know girls love a good sun-kissed photo, and this is what Sunset Town is for. But hey, this isn’t just a mere place with a “good sunset spot”. In fact, it’s a complex known for its architecture, dining, and nightly attractions.

First, Sunset Town is the starting point for the world’s longest sea-crossing cable car, which takes you on a 20-minute ride to Sun World Hon Thom Nature Park.

Another main attraction here is the Kiss Bridge, which has two separate walkways that stretch towards each other, but don’t meet, leaving a small gap.

But the highlight of the day here will always be what happens when the sun sets. Sunset Town is a famous destination for evening entertainment, including water shows, fireworks, a night market, and more.

Pro tip:
Sounds like one day isn’t enough, right? Sunset Town also has a selection of hotels, homestays, and apartments, so you can stay for a few nights. Plus, don’t forget to rent a motorbike so you can go around town quickly and easily.

3. Cham Islands – Hội An

Address: Cham Islands, Tân Hiệp, Hội An, Quảng Nam

The Cham Islands, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, will be a gem if you enjoy beach trips and water activities. It has a total of eight islands and is a popular day-trip destination for its rich marine life and activities.

If you like exploring the waters, there are snorkeling and scuba diving activities that you can check out. Bai Xep, in particular, is a popular spot for those activities. Meanwhile, if you just want to relax and soak up the sun, Bai Chong Beach’s soft white sand and beachside restaurants and lounges are perfect.

Plus, the forest that covers about 70% of the island has trails that you can hike on.

Other than these activities, you can also visit the fishing villages and engage with the local community. Don’t forget to try fresh seafood dishes at the restaurants near the villages.

Pro tip:
The Cham Islands enforces a strict no-plastic-bag policy to protect the environment, so don’t forget to bring your own reusable or biodegradable bags.

4. Vespa Tours

Operating hours: Monday to Sunday 7:00 am – 10:30 pm

I think there’s nothing more fun than exploring the streets of Vietnam and exploring hidden spots while riding on the back of a vintage Vespa scooter.

Vespa Tours are guided excursions where tourists are taken through major cities and the countryside in Vietnam, including Hồ Chí Minh, Hội An, and Hanoi. These tours offer a more fun way to experience the local life and try authentic street food.

What makes these tours special is that they purposely avoid “tourist hot spots;” instead, they’ll take you to underrated locations, like neighborhoods, local markets, and hidden alleys.

When you book, you can select a tour that you think you and the girls will enjoy – there are street food tours, sightseeing tours, after-dark tours, and more.

Pro tip:
If you want a more personalized experience (just for you and the girls), we recommend choosing a private tour, so you can customize the itinerary.

5. Book Street – Hồ Chí Minh

Address: 2 Đ. Nguyễn Văn Bình, Bến Nghé, Quận 1, Thành phố Hồ Chí Minh

Operating hours: Monday to Sunday 8:00 am – 9:00 pm

If you and your girls are book nerds, Book Street is a place that you should definitely check out. This pedestrian-only lane is just right between the Saigon Central Post Office and the Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica of Saigon.

This street is a complete haven — over 20 bookstores, each has its own unique design and decorations. You’ll find a wide array of book selections, including Vietnamese literature, children’s books, and academic publications.

There are even benches and seats under the shade of trees, so there’s a place to sit and read.

But the best thing here is probably the themed cafes that are scattered along the street, and we all know that books and coffee go perfectly together.

Pro tip:
If you don’t want to buy books, there’s a blue library bus in the middle of the street where you can borrow and read books for free.

6. Phong Nha Cave – Quảng Bình

Address: Vườn quốc gia, Phong Nha, Bố Trạch, Quảng Bình

Phong Nha Cave is a magnificent cave system that’s part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Phong Nha-Kẻ Bàng National Park.

Taking the traditional boat trip is the primary way to explore inside the cave. It usually starts with a 30-minute boat ride along the Son River before reaching the cave entrance.

Once inside, you’ll be marveling at the stalactite and stalagmite formations, many of which are named after the figures they resemble, such as Lion, Unicorn, Royal Court, and more.

And then after exploring the cave, the boat will take you to a beach where you’ll be allowed to walk around.

Pro tip:
If you’re taking the boat, you can team up with other groups (maximum of 12 people), so you can split the boat fee.

7. Han Market – Đà Nẵng

Directions: https://maps.app.goo.gl/B4sPGATmJRMABnMS9

Address: 119 Trần Phú, Hải Châu, Đà Nẵng

Operating hours: Monday to Sunday 6:00 am – 7:00 pm

We know a girl’s weekend getaway isn’t complete without shopping for souvenirs, and this is why visiting Han Market in Đà Nẵng is a must.

You’ll find everything here, from local specialties and fresh food to clothing and various souvenir items. The vendors are very friendly and you can bargain a little!

If you feel hungry afterwards, there’s also a food court where you can grab a bite and drinks.

The best part? It’s a multi-level indoor market, so you don’t have to worry about the weather.

Pro tip:
Don’t buy anything at the first price they quote you, especially if you’re a tourist, since they always mark it up. Try to haggle a little (politely!) and don’t feel pressured. You can always walk away if the prices don’t feel right.

8. An Bang Beach Village Restaurant – Hội An

media credit: An Bang Beach Village

Website: http://www.anbangbeachvillage.com/

Address: To 6B An Bang, Cẩm An, Hội An, Quảng Nam

Phone: +84903542613

Operating hours: Monday to Sunday 11:00 am – 10:00 pm

The restaurant is a family-owned, traditional Vietnamese restaurant located in the fishing village of An Bang. This is the place if you want to experience authentic seaside cuisine.

This only means that you’ll get to enjoy fresh seafood, sourced directly from nearby waters and kept alive on-site to keep them fresh.

To keep it more interesting, you can also join their cooking classes and learn to prepare traditional Vietnamese dishes. All dishes prepared during the cooking class depend on your dietary preferences.

Or if you want to take it up a notch, the restaurant can also arrange dinners for you on a private beach to keep the experience intimate, just between the gals.

Pro tip:
After the class, don’t forget to ask for the recipe so you can recreate the dishes at home.

9. Dark Cave – Quảng Bình

Address: Hồ Chí Minh Tây, Sơn Trạch, Bố Trạch, Quảng Bình

If you and the girlies are looking for a weekend with a dash of adventure, the Dark Cave in Phong Nha-Kẻ Bàng National Park is the destination for you. The site offers challenging outdoor activities such as ziplining, kayaking, and other water sports.

But if we talk about the most popular activity here, it’s the cave exploration. True to its name, there are no lights once inside, so you’ll only be using a headlamp.

During the exploration, you’ll walk and swim through the cave’s passages to reach the mud pool, which is believed to be mineral-rich and has a lot of health benefits.

After the mud bath, there’s also an underground lake where you can rinse off the mud or swim.

Pro tip:
One of the first steps in planning a trip to the Dark Cave is to make sure everyone passes the cave’s weight and height limit, since some activities are strict about it.

10. Shopping at the Old Quarter

Directions: https://maps.app.goo.gl/RvkCFzZVqfPBqCiF6

Hanoi Old Quarter is a good place to shop, especially for traditional items. And you’re not just going to find typical shops, since there are specific themed streets as well.

There’s the Silk Street if you’re looking for high-quality silk fabrics, and if you’re looking for decorative paper goods, there’s Paper Street for that.

During the weekend, some streets in the Old Quarter turn into a pedestrian-only zone for the weekend night market.

Lastly, there’s also the indoor market, the Dong Xuan Market, if you want to skip the outdoors while still finding a mix of goods.

Pro tip:
Always bring cash since many shops don’t accept cards or digital payments.

11. Spa Lagoon Villas –  InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort

If you’re leaning into something luxurious and relaxing, the Spa Lagoon Villas at InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort are a staycation like no other. These are secluded villas that float above a private lagoon and are designed for wellness retreats.

Each villa offers a set of amenities that provide relaxation, including wellness facilities, terraces, luxurious bathrooms, and more.

Staying in the Spa Lagoon Villas also includes exclusive spa-related perks to elevate the wellness experience, such as complimentary spa treatments and yoga or meditation sessions.

For food, you can arrange for a private chef to prepare a private meal for you, or you can try dining in one of the resort’s restaurants, like fine dining at La Maison 1888 or enjoying fresh seafood at Barefoot.

This is the dream — a well-deserved break, especially if you’ve been hustling hard to afford this kind of luxury.

Pro tip:
Don’t forget to explore, since the resort’s wellness tips include practicing breathing techniques or taking a walk on the beach.

12. Maia Beach Bar – Đà Nẵng

Address: 284 Đường võ nguyên giáp, Bắc Mỹ Phú, Ngũ Hành Sơn, Đà Nẵng

Operating hours: Monday to Sunday 8:00 am – 1:00 am

If your weekend getaway calls for a simple hangout by the beach, Maia Beach Bar will definitely hit that sweet spot. Here, you’ll get to enjoy great drinks and food with a prime beachfront view.

The bar offers both a drink and food menu, but the cocktails are the ones that always steal the show, especially the margaritas and daiquiris.

You can sit down for a sip at the indoor tables, or if you want a little sun, there are bean bags and lounge chairs placed directly on the sand. The food menu is pretty basic, but it’s still getting a lot of thumbs up.

If you visit at sundown, the place becomes more fun and energetic with a live DJ set.

This is the best option if you’re looking for a quick hangout over the weekend. You know, for that just-catching-up-with-everybody moment.

Pro tip:
Visit before sunset for the best chance to secure a good spot. The crowd will start to come a little later at night.
